Founded in 2002, Benchmark Asset Managers (Benchmark) are Registered Investment Advisors (RIA) with offices in Philadelphia, New York and Baltimore/Washington area. Our principals are leaders in Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) with over seventy five (75) years of financial industry experience. In addition, we represent a deep network of like-minded professionals in legal, philanthropic and financial fields.
Sam Folin is a Managing Director of Benchmark Asset Managers LLC. Along with a lifetime of professional investment experience Sam has shown a continuing passion to contribute to the health of mission driven organizations and to support individuals in seeking social investment options.
Ben Bingham officially joined Benchmark at the start of 2007 after six years of mentorship with Sam Folin while developing a unique portfolio management strategy for socially conscious investors at Legg Mason and Citigroup/Smith Barney.
Team Bios
Marnita Butler is our operations manager and has been working for Sam Folin for 10 years now. She handles client services needs and is responsible for Benchmark’s desktop publishing. Prior to joining Benchmark, Marnita worked for KPMG’s report production department.
Marnita sings professionally and has done so for many years. Her favorite genres to sing are jazz and gospel. She sings at weddings, funerals and banquets and was the praise and worship leader in her church’s choir. She is also involved with her church’s feed the homeless program and volunteers her time ministering in prisons.
Steven Gervais joined Benchmark in the fall of 2008 as a Research Analyst after working in Corporate Finance at a high tech company in Silicon Valley. He graduated from the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University with Highest Distinction and a B.S. in Accounting.
While in school, he taught lab sections of a Developing Ecological Consciousness course and wrote a senior honors thesis examining Ecology, Business and Cultural issues. Steven enjoys playing hockey, especially pond hockey, making things by hand and being outside.
Nancy McIntyre is our Client Services Coordinator and has been working at Benchmark for 5 years. She comes from an extensive background in the women’s nonprofit network of Philadelphia, having worked as an office manager at CHOICE, an online women’s health counseling center, and Women in Transition, an agency providing empowerment counseling to women experiencing domestic violence and addiction issues. Nancy has also worked for 10 years in administration for the University of Pennsylvania and has a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from Temple University.
Nancy loves carpentry and has built homes in Mississippi as a volunteer for the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program after Hurricane Katrina devastated the coastline. She is especially excited about her next carpentry project: a dollhouse for her granddaughter!
Jessy Joyce Nadar joined Benchmark in the fall of 2009 as a Research and Marketing Associate. She has over four years of professional experience in the financial services industry. Through rigorous academic and professional training, she has developed a foundation in the areas of private wealth management, sustainability, cause-related marketing, project management and strategic research & analysis. Besides her academic and professional experience, she brings to Benchmark passion, commitment, attention to detail and a drive for perfection.
Jessy is originally from Mumbai, India and her global exposure includes working on a United Nations project in London, an early-stage incubator in the States and academic training in Switzerland.
Jessy graduated among the top three in her class with an MBA in finance from the Fox School of Business at Temple University. She was also the recipient of the Beta Gamma Sigma award (highest international honor for academic excellence). Jessy has a passion for heights and enjoys cooking and traveling.
Candor Plaza brings years of experimenting with sustainable living practices to the research team. From studies of herbal medicine and natural child-birth to organic market gardening, to inner city community development and philanthropy, to a year of volunteer teaching at a rural community school in Ecuador.
Candor’s focus and passion is recognizing and cultivating meaningful human life experience in a balanced responsible relationship with our planet Earth. Candor is married and has two beautiful daughters, both born at home! She lives with her family in Hillsborough NC.
Patty Rogalski is the Manager of Administration and Operations and joined the Benchmark team in the summer of 2009. She brings with her over 12 years of experience in operations, financial analysis and administrative oversight. She is detailed oriented and enjoys being involved in a variety of projects and programs. She has a BA in Secondary Math Education and an MBA in Finance both from Temple University.
Prior to joining Benchmark, Patty has spent most of her career working in the non-profit and education industries, including Temple University Health System, University City Science Center and the Wharton School. Her prior experience and portfolio includes compliance oversight, accounting, budget planning and analysis, cash management, event planning, start up operations, training program coordination and all general operational activities.
Patty is a Philadelphia native and enjoys traveling, sports and volunteer tutoring.
